As a part of normal development within industry, machines showing low productivity are constantly replaced
with more efficient ones. Yet we see many companies having older equipment in use, with the machines still having their own place in the production cycle. These are reliable and well-built, despite having
been in service for 20 or 30 years. Their performance is foreseeable and well characterised.
After a bit of regular wear, a question often comes up: Is it now time to buy a new one?
There is no universal answer to that, but it is always worth to consider renovation as an option.
Positive aspects and benefits of renovation:
1.Investment costs are lower (also a low likelihood of having to make changes in infrastructure).
2.No training costs.
3.No technological risks - the already existing machine's behaviour and capabilities are well known.
4.Older machines are usually well-repairable and built to be stronger.
5.Operation and maintenance costs are easily predictable.
