If you have machines and equipment, including electrical installations, mixing them together is often not an easy task. In such cases, 1 plus 1 might not equal 2, and if not properly dimensioned, a mutlitude of strange phenomena can occur. There are examples of burnt-down computer cards in CNC machines, excessive heating of current-bearing parts in switchboards and currents in the PE-conductor in places where they normally should not be. As industrial machines also consume the so called reactive energy, it is often a good idea to install a compensator to counteract reactive energy and keep the cost of electricity low.
